It would seem that the owners of a much loved one time Blackbushe resident and representative of Blackbushe's air transport days, DC-6 G-APSA, have decided to scrap her. Paying Coventry Airport parking fees for an aeroplane that's not going amywhere cannot be much fun over a long period.. She's quite intact, cannot fly, but could be acquired as a gate guard for somewhere. The axe will fall probably by the end of the month, and another piece of history will be lost for all time. Very sad, but at least she made one last visit to her old Blackbushe home in 2008..The owners of Blackbushe have been advised of this latest situation..!

I've 'lit some fires' since this morning's news about G-APSA... we'll have to wait and see if anything materialises.

Spoken with Eric, and numerous 'other parties' during the day. Cannot see this aircraft lost, and pleased to say the afternoon's work has resulted in some very firm interest in returning her home to EGLK as 'the very minimum'. Too early to say more until more parties have met, but at the moment hope is rising. I've also been in touch with Harold Bamberg to advise him as to the potential end...

Peter Thankyou the all the efforts you are making to save GAPSA as we called her, I was at Blackbushe when she arrived about 1959 and had a working relationship with her until 1968. Its so unique we must try and save her in one piece even if she becomes a static display at Blackbushe her spiritual home.

Before anyone gets too excited, where is it proposed to park it if it comes? There's no room to swing a cat at Blackbushe so dropping a DC6 in could be quite a problem, especially considering all the planned development.

The important matter is to save G-APSA from her execution in the next week... We'll see, but for now very useful conversation with the relevant parties this afternoon/evening. I'll fill you in later when decisions have been made.. Much enthusiasm abounds, but it is too early to get ultra excited..let's just say her chances of life after next week have increased somewhat be it at Blackbushe, or elsewhere..

Keeping my fingers crossed - do we need to have a whip round?
