Yes Bob it is very disappointing when the news came. Such an iconic aircraft with such an amazing history. Since running the archives G-APSA has become an important subject and part of my life. As most of you know the flight into Blackbushe and out to Farnborough was very special. So many ex Eagle staff came to Farnborough to reminisce some now longer with us. Then later to be on board when we did the Mini European tour. What a delight to have flown to Innsbruck in it. To have met so many Ex Innsbruck staff when opening the passenger door after landing. Memories and scenes that I shall never forget. It all started by being asked as the archivist to help with the correct paint and other areas. However I am sure that Peter will do his very best to convince folk that this aircraft must be saved. Peter every success. 'Make an old man very happy' please! May the Eagle still continue to fly or have a well earned happy retirement being pampered at Blackbushe.

perhaps a spare space could be foumd at LHR? Eagle were based there until the airline died. There must be room somewhere.

Hello Poswolf I sure that LHR would not even listen they stopped G-APSA returning into LHR at the end of the min Europeon Tour in 2008 when we wanted to celebrate the last landing of an Eagle aircraft by flying into LHR then off to Coventry, having given us the slots then with withdrawing them at the last minute!!.

An 'announcement' will be made in the next few days as to the success, or otherwise, of current activity toward saving an aeroplane whose life in the UK started at Blackbushe. It would be a fitting place for her retirement - if it proves possible. No more to say than that.

If you look at the Forum's blue header there has been a link to the Eagle archive in situ for the past couple of years. I put it there, and have only just remembered! Hope it still works....

G-APSA latest...
I cannot say anymore right now, but am pleased to say that we have a 'stay of execution' agreed today. Another couple of weeks to find the solution to saving this gracious lady of the skies. The real facts as to her status are now clear as opposed to the rumours that spread around. Work will continue to achieve a conclusion to this at the earliest opportunity. That conclusion has various options, and right now there is no guarantee that G-APSA will live through to the end of next month, but at least there is now hope compared with two days ago when there was none...
Hopefully those who have feeling toward Eagle Airways, the DC-6, and Blackbushe will share our relief at the success so far enjoyed?? The story could still entail tragedy at its ending, but let's hope on..

Wow i've not really kept up too much on the internet over the past couple of days but i've seen the FB posts, Peter this would be truly amazing to see her returned to BB. I myself have only every seen her once at the Farnborough Airshow and if truth be told i wasn't really in to aviation like i am now. It was all a little over my head.. My only photo to date of G-ASPA. EGLF - Douglas DC-6 - G-ASPA by Steve Lynes, on Flickr
