Freighters, the great unannounced, the answer to 'phantom' services originating in China.

On the day that Blackbushe Airport reinstates flying operations on a phased basis the global air transport business continues to weaken at the knees... Thai International seeking a "rehabilitation" process that will save them for going under if Thai Government provide the funds. Currently world governments have produced $85million in support of the airlines who would otherwise no doubt disappear. Aviation is the key that binds the world together, not just for holidays but the vital economy creative trade, employment and its myriad other spin off businesses. We can imagine how the airlines' employees must be viewing 'tomorrow'..
Meanwhile, Europe and business supporting Mayor of London has announced moves that will cripple the City at its weakest moments. Avoid public transport, use your car comes advice from HMG. Sadiq therefore has used an unclear business model that outwardly would seem to confound the problems of London's businesses, their employees and their clientele... The congestion charge is reinstated, not just that, it's increased by 30%. A helpful £15 to fork out to drive yourself, save lives, and necessarily stay alert in the process? To apply further help to those already in trouble, the Congestion Charge has been extended to 10pm AND applies on Saturday and Sunday too... Don't forget the Ultra Low Emission Zone while motoring into London if your trusty steed is in anyway an 'older' model. Who needs a car in London, the Mayor is now grabbing streets to turn London into Europe's greatest car free city. "On your bike" was a Government mantra a few prime ministers ago, so far as visiting/working in London is concerned it's probably never been more apt than under the rule "oh no you can't" Khan?

It's all very confusing PB! I've listened to the embarrassing 'Daily Coronavirus Briefing' it appears nobody knows what is going on. Everybody wants to be 'King of the World'! Where is the PM? On his bike I suppose. I hope 'The Science' will sort things out but we don't get to hear much about what goes on at the SAGE meetings.
Slogans, slogans, slogans; the latest: "Rapid and Reliable Testing System" (Angela McClean MOD Chief Scientific Adviser); "Pick for Britain' (Prince Charles) - Who is putting words in mouths? No need to answer.
Smells fishy to me. Aah, that's a good sign!
Take care, Stay alert!

Having heard the Home Secretary on the usual 'fill in the gaps template' daily briefing, I am concerned that 'the end is nigh' for many in the aviation industry. In the 'modern' world we do not have self supporting 'Kingdoms', other than a few notable exceptions and even some of those fly in with freight, good or bad. Aviation makes the world tick. It creates networks of interdependence which create synergies for the benefit of mankind, socio-economically, politically and so on. C-19 has created a paradigm shift in the way we view the world and each other. It has shown how weak we are when presented with a problem of this magnitude. What happens if unlocking too early causes R>1 - a bit Micawberish but from a different angle. It is very sad to see Rolls Royce laying off so many; airlines doing the same thing; thousands of businesses. The cost to the economy has become astronomical: it comes from borrowing and tax payers money. Gilts are worthless; we will be in debt for decades. Then, of course, we have those that pay no tax asking for handouts - including billionaires! Getting back to 'fill in the gaps' it is good to hear that freight (presumably to include aviation) and road haulage workers are exempt from the 14 day self isolation. Additionally, the seasonal fruit pickers from eastern Europe are welcome, provided they self-isolate on the same premises as they are working? I think I am losing the plot!

Losing the plot? Please hold on Rocky14, we need you on the Forum to keep the momentum going!!
The vulnerability of the human species has rarely been so starkly emphasized as of late.. One can almost sense the feeling of despair IF NASA, or similar, were to announce the arrival of some asteroid literally heading our way. Far more than the virus, our number would probably be seriously affected if not entirely "up" if and when such a heavenly body were to drop in? The dinosaurs didn't fair well after an earlier example... Or maybe when the Yellowstone caldera finally blows its stack? Either way life on Earth would be seriously challenged and our vulnerability truly exposed.
AS you say, we are "weak" to a serious degree when as a species we are faced with a problem of significant magnitude! The consequences thus bestowed by C-19 are tragic, no lesser expression will do, our Government have done their best to protect us by keeping the "R" on a downward journey and many thousands still with money in their pockets. Whether infighting and differences between 'the science' and Government policy machinery occurs we will have to wait and see, but some policies have been questionable and fingers will be pointing...
The clear blue skies of recent observed whilst staring upwards from the lockdown position have confirmed two things. First, there are precious few aeroplanes to gaze up to and envy, and second, beyond that blue dome there is absolutely nothing. Almost unnerving, our existence is very much a shoestring affair, the virus perhaps causing the shoestring to fray just a little?
Back to Earth, and as you say aviation is in a bad place, a place exacerbated by the Governments quarantine plans ready to roll out on 8th June.. The post Brexit fully global GB looks like it's going to be stuck at the terminal for a while longer?
General Aviation will hopefully be able to spread its wings further, good for Blackbushe but not good times for the likes of Farnborough from whence I assume much of their corporate jet traffic is to and from shores far away? Quarantine will presumably be bad news keeping the new Farnborough Controlled Airspace somewhat under used?
I'm with you Rocky14, if there ever was a plot I too seem to have lost it.. I wonder if any other Forum members can help advise on holding to the plot? Maybe they could help restore the plot for the beleaguered ones like us who seemingly are gone beyond all hope? Any takers?
Whatever, it's Bank Holiday Weekend and some time off.......enjoy!! Thanks for your contributions Rocky 14, please keep 'em coming.
