Another fruitless session in the garden waiting for the 21.34 Starlink satellites to pass overhead. Plenty of stars, Venus blazingly bright but me no see Mr Musk's Starlink show.. Anyone else catch it? I'll try again for the 23.10 fly by.. PB It was much clearer on Tuesday PB, I counted 26 and didn't stay outside until the full 40 had passed over. Last night I saw 1 for sure and a few flickers of others, and that was it. Apparently this is because last night the sun was lower below the horizon (as it was about 30 mins later than on Tues) so there was less of the suns light to reflect off them.

Thanks "Ex" for the update, any times for tonight or should I get an early night?? So far as aviation is concerned, today has proven to not be a good day for Blackbushe, details elsewhere on the Forum... Meanwhile, elsewhere General Aviation moves toward the future as evidenced by this link:- gemstoneaviation.co.uk/diamond-aircraft-da50/Something to spoil yourself with once the lock-down in unlocked? So far as aviation is concerned, today has proven to not be a good day for Blackbushe, details elsewhere on the Forum.... Have to say my heart sank deeply when I saw Chris's update yesterday. I can only imagine (or probably not) how you're feeling about it. The legal arguments are complex and too much for me to unravel in detail (one daughter is a law undergraduate so I might let her have a go!), but it seems this might be about precedent. We could have hoped that pragmatism and common sense might win the day, but it seems not, and that HCC have spent a lot of money on ensuring it doesn't. This, at a time when you would think that the priority of such an organisation should be to promote sensible business endeavour. I'm left wondering what the Airport's next moves will be, and that whether the will and financial backing are there to fight on?

Thank you "ex", yes I must admit a degree of darkness surrounding my mood today. Nevertheless, life and hope go on, the fight is not fought yet...
You're right on the surmise of legal technicality and the establishment of precedent. You share my sentiment 100% with regard to the County's so called 'authority'...
Back to star gazing tonight, hopefully the Blackbushe issue will in due course proceed far beyond the realms of 'star gazing'...
I've just updated the COVID NOTAMS pages, including today's latest Blackbushe Covid 19 NOTAM...
Hope to see you before too much longer, we must go to the "Bushe" for refreshment. Just imagine one day being able to drive into the car park at Blackbushe!!!!!!!!!!
C'ya PB

An easing as reported on the "UKGA" website regarding maintenance flights:-
"......these are permitted, where required by the engine manufacturer’s instructions or equivalent LAA/BMAA procedures for Permit-to-Fly aircraft in accordance with those requirements, once in every four weeks for a maximum duration of 30 minutes.
Aircraft should aim to remain within the circuit. Unless safety of flight requirements dictate, the aircraft should not travel beyond a 5nm radius of its current aerodrome and no dynamic manoeuvring activity is to be included in the sortie profile.
Where the engine manufacturer’s instructions indicate that the engine only needs to be run at idle or at low power whilst on the ground and no other essential maintenance is required, then no flight may be performed.
Criteria for the conduct of these flights are that while the UK Government’s social distancing policy is in place the owner or organisation operating the aircraft must maintain a log of all the aircraft movements.
As a minimum, this must include the purpose of the flight, the pilot and their licence number, the flight’s date, time and duration. This log is to be kept and if required provided immediately in electronic form to the CAA.
Only solo flights by fully qualified pilots are permitted. No other flights, including instructional sorties are allowed, and aircraft must have a valid airworthiness certificate (CofA or Permit) before a maintenance, ferry or engine health flight can take place. These provisions apply equally to UK-registered and non-UK registered GA aircraft operating in UK airspace.
Post-maintenance check flights in accordance with CAP1038 are permitted but must be kept to an absolute minimum in terms of both the number and duration of flights. They must be conducted in strict accordance with the approved maintenance or flight test profile.
Ferry flights. Flights to or from maintenance facilities for essential maintenance are permitted if such a facility is not available at the aircraft’s current location. Flights are to be by the most direct practical route with transits flown at no lower than 1,000 feet Above Ground Level (AGL).
Any requests for exceptions to these provisions are to be submitted to ga.ga@caa.gov.uk a minimum of ten days in advance of the requested date of the flight".

After hearing the good news today feeling good, in mind and body, I decided to knock the cobwebs off my bike and take it for a spin across the Downs and environs. With a tail wind and much gusto from the pins I seriously got the PNR wrong - stay safe, goodnight

Tail wind component not ideal at take off, although on a bike it may be advantageous! May we assume you calculated correctly and did not leave the ground, or are you still up there somewhere and are you still in no more than one piece?

Exercise enthused endorphins encapsulate the essence of what it feels like to recapture ones youth on a bike! As you say PB, it is better to take off into wind, although, the other day, I did a greaser on the other side of a pothole.
