Just wanted to thank Peter, Rob and his dad Harry, Phil, plus Gail from Aerobility, and indeed all involved in the 'History Hub' for a terrific weekend. I would also like to thank Mick Lambert for transporting us to and from the car park - it's not easy by bus if you are disabled! My wife Sandra and I thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and chance to meet and chat to so many interesting people and to see the many varied aircraft types gathered together by Peter being demonstrated in 'normal' circuit configuration. I don't personally feel the lack of 'air show aerobatics' - due to restrictions imposed by the CAA - actually lessened the enjoyment at all and this was the feeling of many visitors I spoke to. With plenty of aviation interest for the youngsters to get involved in lets hope that they will be drawn into aviation in the future. Well done to everyone involved and lets hope the nominated charities reap considerable benefit. Stuart

Spot on Stewart, there are some negative comments around on social media, but I didn't hear any from people I spoke to personally around the showground on Sat and Sun. It seemed pretty busy (especially Sunday afternoon) so hopefully the charities will benefit as you say.

Thank you for the supportive messages from my diligent friends.
It has been an incredibly difficult journey to put this year's event on, especially with last minute hurdles imposed on us from various sources, but despite the imposed restrictions on flight dynamics it seems that almost everybody enjoyed the experience provided. It was my pleasure to bring the Anson, Dakota, Pembroke and Beech 18 back to Blackbushe, not to mention 16Sqn MkXI Spit representing the 16Sqn boys who flew here in the 40's.
By and large this is a draining and thankless task, any future events will be seriously considered before diving in at the deep end. We were seriously let down this year, very much at the 11th hour and after the months of heartache, long hours, and frustration the show was so nearly binned. I'll say no more on that as this Forum does not indulge in finger pointing. Saved by the skin of our teeth by truly dedicated members of the team we flew an informal relaxed programme with a good variety of types.
Unpleasant remarks were received from one or two because their bus was held by the Catalina. The event was to raise money for charity to help our injured service personnel. Charity did not go far with some it would seem. Compare having to wait in a bus for a short while waiting for an aircraft to clear with the injury related life sentence so many of the military endure for the rest of their days...the people for whom the profits of the 75th will be heading, and for whom we dedicated so much time and effort.
To my friends who have supported the show by volunteering, or by attending the 75th and supporting our charities, or by simply giving some post event appreciation "Thank You".

I think for a event of this size, and with a team of around 50 it went very well. Yes there were gripes about the buses on Saturday. Car parking is always the sites Achilles heel and delays were bound to happen at some point over the weekend. There have been some gripes on social media but you will always get them. Everybody i spoke to was happy, and talking to local people in the history hub there was definitely the feeling that they want the airport to have these events. There was certainly none of the negativity towards the airport that was around in the 60's and 70's, mind you those people would not have come any way. I think we all need to thank Peter for his herculean efforts to bring this all together. I think we can all say that we hope that you find something more relaxing to do before planning the 2019 air day! Rob

My thoughts on the Sunday. Shuttle bus service was well organised, and I found it interesting to see parts of Blackbushe that I had not been to before. Weather, excellent. Toilets,so many that every visitor could have their own personal one (almost). Food vendors,I did not see any with a long queue, most unusual, obviously enough there to cater for the crowds (pun) A nice big Fire Truck for me to photograph!! Some lovely Aeroplanes, the two DH Biplanes in particular. I saw the engine,I saw the tyres, but where was the fuselage, wings and tail??? Thanks to all concerned for an enjoyable day.

Rob...you Sir are star that shines forth across the "Forgotten Airport"...
Your kind words are more than appreciated Rob, the "Herculean" effort was rewarded by the regular sound of a Bristol Hercules engine starting up down in Zone E. So clearly could you see Vikings, and Bristol Freighters as you closed your eyes. Sounds can be so evocative, and to me Eagle and Silver City, to name but two, had suddenly never gone away. Really rather moving. The clouds of blue smoke and that radial 'clatter' were enough to make your eyes water.....
2019 sounds far away, but then 2017 sounded far away not long ago.... A little voice from deep inside my head is saying, "please don't do that to me gain...". Another voice is saying something totally different. All I can say is that real voices in high places in the world of air events are supportive of Blackbushe 2019. My ambitions of a more dynamic affair were squashed by rules, regulations, and a very late let down amid the proceedings.
Time will tell what the future holds, my crystal ball is somewhat steamed up at the moment..
Hope our members who attended enjoyed the experience, and those who stayed beyond the fence got some nice pictures.
To all our members who helped and worked so hard in support of Blackbushe, and in particular for our charities, Aerobility, Help for Heroes, and the Dougie Dalzell Memorial Trust - a massive "THANK YOU!"

Thank you for your comments!! We certainly tried to make it an event that was comfortable for all requirements!!
Sorry that the wings and fuselage and tail could not join the bits of Eagle Viking we put on show. Will have to dig deeper before 2019.
2019??

Hello Peter, 'CONGRATULATION TO YOU AND THE TEAM'from what I have seen on the web so many people enjoyed themselves over the two days. It was so good to see that Harold Bamberg was able to come. Many thanks also to Phil Johns who has sent a number of pictures. Seeing the pictures and listening to the comments by guests on the net I am so disapointed that my undercariage failure just did not allow me to take off from Shropshire. The hold was packed with goodies to display. Best wishes eric
