Strikes me that the green belt may morph into a grey one. Watch this space! I never thought Filton would turn into a massive housing development, without a local transport infrastructure; it did. Nimby's beware!

Agree with your comments today PB.
Most often, when there is conflict, death and injury, the victim is the mother.

I am lost for words! The future is not orange, or is it?!

In those days aircraft spotting was exciting. So many shapes and sizes. I cherish those times. But, that was the dinosaur generation, and we must go forward. The future owes much to the dinosaurs.
I watched an account of Kenley on 'Yesterday' (how bad is that!), this afternoon. Still a lot of wartime stuff intact. Chevvron and I know it well. I did my first sortie in a Wessex from said place. I will consider my claim for deafness, in due course!

The high rate of descent meant that my ears were kept clear! Postscript:-
I'd only started work at Farnborough 2 weeks before that; the week I arrived the last flying Beverley was flown from Luton to Paull by an RAE crew; now after yet another move it has just arrived at Carlisle from Fort Paull for re-assembly.

On the subject of ears! I suffered terrible earache during the decent in a Varsity T.1 into RAF Oakington. I had a cold at the time which no doubt was the cause.
Poor old Oakington closed in 1999. It became an army barracks, followed by an immigration centre and is now a housing development. Plus ça change!

ATC summer camp, we were heading north east along the Bedford Levels at about 10,000ft when one passed us left to right about 2,000ft below; a year later they were all suddenly grounded due to metal fatigue, many being ordered to land immediately in the middle of their flights.

I was there in '65. What a difference a year makes?
