There have been a lot of parties in recent years PB. I am only guessing, but I'll accept 1/4.

Well done Blackbushe, despite the weather the Day looked great; I saw a lot on the webcam. An excellent departure etc by the Albatross; I followed it to southampton. En route, between Micheldever and Martyr Worthy, it orbited (17.50) to allow a KLM City Hopper E190LR to land. The Albatross settled down at 17.56.
Thanks to all involved.
I missed out on the honours again!

I concur PB: let's keep politics out of this esteemable forum, wherein eclectic views' manifest. Oh, the rest makes me blue in face!

Obviously today's POTD pleased me greatly My first time airborne was in G-APCY flown by my dad (Colin Stevens) who was one of the founders of (and very active in) the Airlines Flying Group. As my Avatar shows (although this shot may have been taken in Australia, where the aircraft was completely rebuilt after a crash on the ferry flight) the aircraft was completely 'overhauled' (including a CofA and new paint scheme applied by the apprentices in the British Eagle hangar) .
I understand the aircraft is now up for sale in Australia (presumably due to the death - or at least end of flying - of the dentist who bought, and cherished, her for many years)
My brother travelled out to Australia a few years ago and had the opportunity to fly her (was in magnificent condition)

The second face pic is one of the best. Just imagine that scene as one approaches the plateau on foot or bike. Always makes me think of the opening paragraphs of Hammond Innes' 'Air Bridge' for some peculiar reason.

I'd almost forgotten the suspended 'greenfield' for airfields petition. That designation would complement the seven positives perfectly.

I am awake now! The same again posted to the right box, apologies.
Fab foto from 1962 today; it shows a lot of detail which could be enhanced using modern techniques.

Certainly a Mercurial kind of magic today. I'm out on my bicycle. Beautiful for the time being in Bristol, we even have the Princess Royal staying at our celebrated Southmead hospital. Get well soon Ma'am. Won't be going to Glastonbury this year, too hot!
I remember the full size Blackbushe in the early '60s; it was, indeed, massive. Although much smaller now, the show must go on.
As said: beware of dogs and snakes in the grass.
