Farnborough F1 - not dead yet? Simond's comment about the Farnborough F1 set me Googling regarding its fate. Alan Klapmeier (former boss of Cirrus Aircraft) took over the project in 2015, renamed it 'Kestrel' and intended to produce it under the banner of his ONE Aviation Company. According to Flyer Magazine, he 'shelved' the Kestrel in 2017 in order to concentrate on his Eclipse EA700 Jet. (See www.flyer.co.uk/kestrel-made-last-landing/). ONE Aviation's website still shows the Kestrel as a product (http://www.oneaviation.aero/). There are no clues there as to whether it is likely to be manufactured soon but does say that ONE Aviation "continues to further the development of the Kestrel aircraft". So, rumours of its demise may be a little premature...

I had a wonderful time volunteering for the 75th anniversary; it was great to meet some of my fellow forum members and pick up a copy of Rob Belcher's book
Blackbushe London's Lost Airport 1942 -1960
A very good read.
Seconded. Everyone should have bought a copy!!
It was great to meet you too Sir Rocky14....

The 75th Anniversary Celebration was indeed very enjoyable. Having been seconded to the History Hub my wife and I were delighted to meet many friends from years gone by and mull over our memories of events that we recalled.I know how much effort Peter and the team put into organising the event which wasn't made any easier due to the last minute regulations that were imposed. Very enjoyable. Stuart

Ah! Todays last photo. Last time I flew around the Needles we were somewhat lower and I was sat in the back of G-ILDA/SM520, Mk9tr Spitfire. I was allowed to fly it westwards down the Solent but the pilot insisted on taking control for the wing over which took us east. I took over again straight after, but the turn would have been nice.

Today's Header: is Mike Bs index finger pointing to a pb adjacent to the car park yellow criss-cross markings? The overhead shots are excellent, the despoilment of Blackbushe very obvious!

Wondered if anybody would pick up on the phantom finger!! PB is in the car park but far from under the thumb...

Morning Peter/All,those aerial photos of Blackbushe were superb and with yourself mentioning that you were in the car park got me thinking, instead of "Spot the ball",how about "Spot the Peter" with the winner getting a small financial prize and the rest of the proceeds going towards the memorial that people have expressed an interest in,only downside is that you will not be allowed to enter for obvious reasons.

Good Morning David... I can quite understand why I would not be eligible for your proposed contest, and having long ago been a failed "Spot the Ball" contestant can also understand the cash raising possibilities. The idea of raising funds to support the "RAF Hartford Bridge" would certainly go hand in glove with the provision of a much needed means of remembering and reflecting on the airfield's past, unknown to ever more as the population ages and also generates new generations. No doubt there are legal ramifications to consider running a 'fund raiser' where one gambles for a rich and worthy prize. The raffles run during past Blackbushe events have all had to be legally endorsed and a 'supporter' named. This Sunday morning the practicalities of running such a contest would require serious consideration, but the idea of an "RAF HARTFORD BRIDGE MEMORIAL FUND" is certainly a notion I'd be keen to pursue.. First steps would be to ensure the ground is secure for said Memorial...The Airport's future is still uncertain and no Memorial could be entertained until such time as a clear and approved development programme is underway in which a Memorial could be incorporated. Also, further dialogue with the Airport Management/Owners would be necessary to ensure their support of the Memorial provision remains intact. Thinking caps on? PB
