Hi Peter, Great news that Blackbushe to be back on the map with a fly in. Am glad to help in any way I can, no technical aviation experience, just an enthusiast. Do have security experience at docks on passenger screening if relevent. Also still have copy of presentation on the place. Good luck with project, keep the photos flowing Avioligist

Now I am back from a week mostly away I will put down some thoughts on this event I think there are a couple of issues that needs to be considered, both involve parking. 1. aircraft parking, assume it will be PPR and I am guessing there will be a limit of around 100 or so? With the tent hangars there looks to be less parking than in 1995? im guessing there is room for about 30 in the middle, a the rest along the A30. Im assuming the main apron will mostly be kept for any biz? There is of course the possibility of closing the taxiway past aerobility as in the 50th? 2. cap parking, when ever i seem to go up there now the car park is 2/3rds full on a normal day. If this is to be a publicly advertised event then we have a problem. The whole car park probably has less than 150 spaces and the flying schools, blink etc will still need to use them?
leaving problems aside it would be good to invite some vintage aircraft, and maybe some former resident aircraft from the early days of 'new Blackbushe', are there any Linnets still flying? Shame there are so few of the classic Miles and Percival aircraft around from that era. Anyway do shout if any help is needed.

Rob....
88 days to the fly-in.
Thank you so much for your ideas and suggestions. Please be assured that intense planning at the highest levels is going into the fly-in. All the points you address - and many more - are actively under consideration, and being actioned as appropriate..
I have a considerable list of invitees, including many vintage aeroplanes, so hopefully not too many worries there? Percival examples are already being polished for the event as we speak! It's great that we are thinking on similar lines as invites start to fly out to the owners/operators/clubs.
What I would appreciate is identification of any specific/special aircraft that our members/guests feel should receive our tailored invite. That would be what type/reg, where based, owned by whom, and any contact details...It's possible that they may have been hit already, but no harm in that! Just PLEASE let me know, and the word will be on its way....
Rob, your thoughts and interest very much appreciated. Aerobility are the named charity of the fly-in, a prime objective being to raise funds for their operation. The leading charity in helping disabled and injured experience the freedom and sense of self expression that flight can give them. They are doing the most magnificent work to this end, and I feel duty bound to do my humble bit toward helping their work. Anything we can do toward making the fly-in a success and a source of fund raising for Aerobility will be mightily appreciated.
Best wishes Peter B

Just a quick idea Peter, is there going to be a flyer for the event? If there is something we could print off we could put one on various airfield notice boards that we visit. Would also be good to spread the word on the Flyer and PPRUNE forums. Plus get in on this events list events.royalaeroclub.org/eventuk.htmRob

Hi again Rob. Indeed, there will be a flyer. Two stages, first the press version which must hit the mags asap, second the general distribution flyer just as done for previous events. This will be sent to all and sundry including every flying club in the land. Forums, the LAA, RAeC, etc etc etc all will be hit. Believe me, it's all in hand having travelled this road before..You strike a very good point re airfield visits. Once the final flyer is ready - won't be long - it would be brilliant if Forum members could run off copies and pin them on every notice board they can find on every airfield they visit. That would be a fantastic team effort and yield ever more aeroplanes. I certainly intend to visit as many airfields as possible to this end just as I did in for previous Blackbushe events. Flying clubs will be given supplies to drop off during cross country sorties. Drop off when on the ground at away airfields that is...
I will tell all as soon as I can, but there are brilliant prizes on offer from very generous sources. We will continue to seek ever more prizes from corporations/business remembering that Aerobility are the named charity for whom we are fund raising. These prizes should be a powerful hook to haul in visitors, but all will be revealed before too long. Until then, we're holding back on info until the moment is right...
I guess if I place the flyer on here as per the routine photographs we can print off our own supply? That will be a magnificent gesture of support from our members. Great suggestion Rob, can I assume that most of our members would be willing to help with this important task??? No matter if we have already distributed flyers, doubling up is doubling up on our chances of securing more flying guests in September.. Is that OK with everyone?? I'd be interested to see how many of our magnificent members would be happy to do this?? Let us know please!!!
Thanks PB

Not sure if I should admit it, but I don't actually get out to visit many other airfields HOWEVER I would certainly distribute with vigour via Twitter, Facebook and so on. Twitter in particular is/has the potential to be a very effective channel.
Also - just checking on an ex-colleague-of-a-colleague who (if the contact is still there) would, I think, be a very worthwhile owner and aircraft to invite. Should it prove to be a valid contact, I'll pass on the details (crosses fingers).
Exciting times.

Thanks simond, excellent sentiments!!
The Fly-in team are meeting again today with a packed agenda. There are numerous (lots of) infrastructure arrangements to put in place, so hold your fire until I confirm the detailed nuts and bolts of our fly-in weekend.
Exciting times for sure, and I can't wait to see the airfield hosting an aeronautical event after so many years in the event doldrums. It's a little worrying when you stick your neck on the chopping block and come up with something like this. If it goes wrong...egg on face, at best, but at least we are making the effort. With your help hopefully the egg will not be in my face! As you say, "crossed fingers"....
Look forward to your ex-colleague-of-a-colleague (if he's still there..) coming up with the goods!!
Thanks in advance PB

Good top see the wheels are turning quickly on this one. One invitee I thought of is Auster G-AJEE, this was Westminster Airways hack in the late 40's. Its based up north but have seen it at popham in the last year or so.
