BLACKBUSHE: 18th March 2021 Blackbushe Airport are disappointed to receive the judgement of the Court of Appeal in respect to the appeal case CI/2020/0882. This appeal was of the decision of Mr Justice Holgate of April 2020 where he quashed the decision of the Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in respect to Application COM/3206697, an application to deregister the active aerodrome from Yateley Common. Blackbushe Airport maintains that there are grounds, with real prospects of success, to contend that the correct approach is other than as set out in the judgement and that the approach adopted by the Inspector was correct. We are therefore taking advice on our options to seek permission to appeal the decision at the Supreme Court. The Vision for Blackbushe airport is to develop a small, modern aviation facility, that supports small aviation businesses as well as providing services for the community. We remain committed to delivering on this objective. We strive to create a centre of aviation excellence for small start-up and existing businesses in aviation to thrive. Our plans would create employment opportunities for the local community as well as allowing Blackbushe to continue as a General Aviation hub for generations to come. The judgement will be available in full on BAILII in the coming days. You can find more information on the history of the application and FAQs on our Common Land Deregistration page. www.blackbusheairport.co.uk/news/coa-decision-statement

What is HCC's vision for the future of EGLK? Is it a matter of fighting, regardless of reason, 'til the towel's thrown in? It is certainly hell-bent in relying on anachronistic common law the cost, for the interpretation of which, is frightening. An 'incredible' £80m cuts to services but no qualms whatsoever in abusing ratepayers' hard earned money, to fight EGLK just to show it can!

So disappointing. It seems criminal that the fanatic opposition to the airport’s existence, over so many years, has not been more widely publicised and recognised in the courts. There are times when the law really is an ass. A simple aerial photo of the airfield and the car auctions site should have led to a common sense decision. Shame on HCC.

I was appalled at the response to this in the local Yateley Facebook group, the number of narrow-minded people seeing this as a victory for Yateley is baffling. It was obvious 90% of them had never read anything about this issue. I wonder if this needs something like a documentary or a special news piece about it to educate the people who don't seem to have an original thought in their heads.

Thanks Graeme, I have not seen the Yateley group's words as yet, but I will do. In advance it's easy to imagine the content if it's like historic babble about a subject they seemingly have little grip on so far as facts are concerned. Sixty years of heated air rising from that part of the world from a population today by far pre dated by Blackbushe Airport... It's interesting how the howls of protestation fail to show up when their opportunity to moan is presented via the Airport Consultative Committee meetings which are open to the public to attend and ask questions...The last meeting in public pre pandemic produced almost no public from either side of the Blackbushe argument.
