The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has published new guidance to explain its previous COVID-19 related exemptions for pilots in a more understandable format.
The clarification came after the All-Party Parliamentary Group on General Aviation (APPG-GA) wrote to the Chief Executive of the CAA highlighting the need for more accessible information beyond the original complicated legal documents.
Author of the letter and Co-Chair of the APPG-GA, Lord Davies of Gower, said “We welcome this new guidance from the CAA, which translates the latest ORS4 exemptions into a language and format which the average pilot can understand. We recognise that creating complex legal instruments to back up regulations is an essential part of the CAA’s job. However, this example clearly shows that the CAA cannot simply release these documents without an explanation and expect them to have the desired effect within the General Aviation community.”
