You may recall the endeavour a few months ago to acquire the Eagle Airways DC-6 from Coventry and bring her home to Blackbushe. An endeavour that did not work out at the end of the day, the return of this beautiful aeroplane to her old Blackbushe home would have been a dream come true for those who knew her years ago while operating from here amid the Eagle Airways fleet. Coventry Airport's Facebook pages carry a photograph of the mighty G-APSA being towed from her long held place at Coventry in preparation for dismantling and the move to her new home in St Athan. While it is saddening that she will not be 'coming home', the result could have been far worse as she will be reassembled in Wales and live on escaping the fate that so many classic airliners have experienced - being turned into teaspoons, or some such... The spirit of Eagle Airways and 1950's Blackbushe goes with her.. PB
