Here is thought or an idea to put forward -
Is it a good idea to hold talks one evening a month from November to March at The Bushe Cafe - If the cafe are happy with this - Open at 7 - talk start at 7.30 to 8.30, and shut at 9/9.30 - this can include Q&A session - No food available but people could be drinks - Maybe a £3 donation and this could go towards Aerobility-
Talks could be - Yateley Society - Yateley at War 1900 through WW1 & WW2 upto Modern Day
Blackbushe History
Aerobility Talk
Camberley Kart Club - History & Presant Day or Blackbushe Fire Service - History, Present and Meet the Team
Blackbushe During WW2 upto 1960s
Blackbushe Airport Management Talk - Update of present day, news, updates and future
Not sure if this has been done but worth a try. I don’t mind if it was £5 a ticket maybe
Let me know you thoughts?
Thank you
Neil

Hi Neil.
You have no idea how good it is to have someone come up with positive ideas that may bring our members/guests together and foster something of the Blackbushe spirit..
The essential ground work would need to be covered before going in too deep. Agreement for use of the Airport 'after hours', there will be security issues, plus discussion with the Bushe Cafe management as to their agreeability to 'extra hours'.. I would imagine they would only be happy if the resultant business made economic sense for extra staffing hours.
I'm sure there would be a body of members happy to attend, but it would be interesting at to how may members respond to the proposition initially...
Perhaps a tie up with a flying school would work, they might recruit an extra member, or two..?? Shame the DC-6 project did not materialise, a novel place for talks had we been successful in the bid to acquire her..
Be interesting to hear from our 450 plus members on this! There ares till vacancies on the Farnborough Airport visit in May for our members to participate in.....

Thank you for your post, surely one maybe 2 members of staff would be required if it’s just drinks.
In the past I have hired the Bushe Cafe in the past where they do £50 deposit and once it’s hit £50 in drink/snack sales you get your money back. In security terms, I think if I remember we had to be of site by either 10 or 11pm and their was a guy from the control tower whom needed to lock the front gate.
We at the party helped the cafe clear away so they and we could all get home.
Once a month talk would be brilliant, could include Brooklands, Heathrow, Popham or Farnborough talks maybe! I think it’s limted to 60 people for the cafe sit down or maybe 100 can’t remember
Cheers

Many forum member's, some long in the tooth with tales to relate, live far from BB. It is unlikely that they would have the pleasure of participating in events such as this. Nonetheless, a report of the events/talks that took place, together with interesting comment, would be were received by all - hands up for the reporter/s role?

It would be good to have a few photos and some words about the evening’s talks which I don’t mind doing.
To this day I still don’t know how to upload photos onto here! Lol

If only you had somebody who had already done over 15 talks on Blackbushe, oh wait a minute.......LOL!I did one in the cafe about four years ago through Steve Morley that was well attended. My waffling is normally restricted to the general history and takes one to one and a half hours but I would love to break this down with just 90 min on the 1947-60 period. Generally I am speaking to those who are interested in local history rather than the aircraft so would be good to talk to some geeks. Neil21 if you can sort out the details I am more than happy to bore you all on a couple occasions over the winter!
