40 years ago in July 1978 - Blackbushe had at the time in the UK one of the biggest concerts with around 200,000 people
Concert with Bob Dylan, Joan Armtrading and Eric Clapton
Dose anyone have any pictures stories of the events they would like to share of the event?

The link takes you to the Blackbushe Airport web site coverage of the Dylan concert... www.ukrockfestivals.com/blackbushe.htmlSomewhere I've a photo taken from overhead from an Air Hanson Long Ranger, I recall an ocean of blue denim below and a distinct haze in the air... Memory tells me the attendance was nearer 300,000! The Friday before people were arriving in vast numbers, largely by foot, weighed down with camping kit. The A30 looked like a pedestrian way as folk arrived from all directions, great 'atmosphere'... PB

Did you attend yourself?
I’ve been told a few times that’s in Yateley, that at that time all the pubs made a fortune expect the Royal Oak which refused to open as they didn’t want trouble - wonder if this 100% true

I'm fairly certain my sister attended, although I am not sure she told our parents where she was going!!! I'll see if she has any memories or memorabilia.

I was most certainly there...looking after the 'heliport' that for the occasion was a dry and dusty corner on the north east of the airfield. Greeting the rich and famous, choking in the dust storm that blew up with every rotary landing. No idea re the fortunes of local pubs & enterprises, but they would never have had so much prospective business walking past their doors as happened with the Dylan concert.

If I remember correctly there are some posts about the concert in Cs&Qs ; there are also some pics therein too - and/or POTD.

There is a video of 'Bob Dylan Live - 1978 Blackbushe Festival' posted by pb on 24 April last on page 3 (not to be confused with 'The Sun') in 'Blackbushe Video Links'.

I saw the Wombles, (ROCK AND ROLL!) and a few others (Sweet?)at Blackbushe in the 70's I am sure it was a Radio Luxembourg festival. Might be wrong though.
My memories a bit shot these days
Didn't spot in those days, but I am sure some goodies would have been present
