Although the BBMF had to scrub today's visit (19 August) the large gathering assembled to see them, as happened yesterday, again confirms the great pull these iconic aircraft have, and people are happy to visit Blackbushe to see them. The images of this weekend certainly make me feel that another "Air Day" as per 2016 with, if possible, some display flying would be a great way to celebrate Blackbushe's future IF the Common Land situation is ratified!! A 'minimal' admission fee to further foster a great relationship with the local community and enthusiasts alike? Obviously, just a thought at the moment...no more than that PB

peter..Peter.. have memories faded of last year already, lol! Yes it would be great to have an event next year. Providing all goes to plan it may be the last chance before the advancing hangars take over the parking areas? You know better than any of us where the challenges lie in car parking, 'staff' problems, flying display permissions etc. I think an air day event as 2016 with 15 interesting static aircraft with maybe 5-6 flying (Spitfire/Hurricane/BBMF, couple of aerobatic acts, the blades, and maybe B-17/Catalina/ Blenhiem) , family orientated event, admission £10-£15, kids free. All the things we had at the airday but with a hour, or so, afternoon flying display. Would also love to see a fly-in , 50 PPR slots, no public advertising but airport open as normal, would get some pilots to visit who normally would not. Just need to lay on some extra food, minimal cost. Invite some aircraft that were former residents, and some vintage types. As ever you would have backing from those of us you can count on.

Thanks RJ, I know exactly where our strengths lie, and who the Airport can count on!!
Believe me, some memories from the 75th will never fade, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Numerous glowing reports were heard yesterday amid the crowd gathered to see the BBMF. WE did do a great job, despite a few hurdles dropped in our path 13 months ago!!! If there's a next time, all would be on a very different footing from the ground up.
Let's not jump the gun just yet, so much hangs on the forthcoming negotiations amid bodies where the final solution for Blackbushe hangs. Every effort will be thrown into the 'save the Airport' project, and until definitive answers are arrived at much is at stake. The Airport will not survive indefinitely being hung up on Common issues, but there are ways to skin a cat - even save Blackbushe from an ignoble end that would see the whole Airport take on the "Blackbushe East" look...
Great meeting some of the guys from our fantastic 2016 and 2017 teams over the weekend. Let us hope we will all have something big to celebrate before too much longer..
Hopefully, we might encourage a "celebration" event when the time is right. I so clearly remember October, 1962, and the "Great Re-opening Air Show" . Maybe the CAA will ease a little amid the many pages of CAP 403, there is already light at the end of that tunnel...
Keep the faith!! PB
