Just a few thoughts on the back of an envelope: *introducing and increasing charges for some services; What services? *lobbying central Government for legislative changes; What does that mean? Who is lobbying HCC? *generating additional income; Let EGLK survive. *using the County Council's reserves; Vire the 'massive anti EGLK fighting fund' to a useful budget. *reducing and changing services; There is a basic standard of provision enshrined in statute *increasing Council Tax; Not politically popular! *changing local government arrangements in Hampshire If for the better a good idea, this applies to personnel as well! Thanks Rocky14...I truly hope that all who follow Blackbushe and support her ambitions to serve GA and the locality will seize the moment and rise up armed with pen and paper (or even the back of an envelope) and release their pent up frustration over the unforgivable treatment handed to the Airport by Hampshire County Council.

Could not agree with you more Rocky14. Thank you for your continued key support. Forums are for exchanges of views and never has this Forum looked forward to our 600+ members coming to the fore more than now when collectively we could perhaps make an impression on the Hardup County Council and make them think a little further about the wisdom of sitting on Blackbushe's prospects while waving anachronistic documents in the air? The Forum has over 600 souls signed up as Members, on Facebook the "Blackbushe Airport Then & Now" Group has well over 1,000 members. Collectively these bodies could produce a substantial response to Hampshire's consultation, it's certainly a time when all who profess to care about Blackbushe could actually contribute toward her future.. Perhaps correspondence aimed at the media if handled correctly could be advantageous? Thanks again Rocky14, you've set a shining example!! PB

Morning Peter/All,Have just had my say on HCC's pages and it would appear from other comments already shown that HCC and other councils are slowing turning the UK into a third world country (a bit ironic that the latest G7 meeting was held in this country).
One major concern to me is the possible closures of recycling centres, where I currently live I have to drive into Basingstoke (no big deal,it's only about 9 miles) but living on the Hampshire/Berkshire border we used to be able to use the one in Paicies Hill Aldermaston (about 1.5 miles from home) until HCC decided they didn't want to give West Berkshire any more money to help run the centre. Now I don't believe for one minute that the centre in Wade Road Basingstoke will close but if others do it's going to make life interesting with even more people trying to use less centres.
HCC should stop trying to thwart Blackbushe's ambitions and concentrate on their own massive problems which in all honesty are getting worse by each passing hour.

Also on this day 1931 Robert Kronfeld made a return cross English Channel flight in a glider. There is an orchard, in memory of him and his son Bill, at Lasham.

Great shots from the camera lads today and yesterday. Being distant from EGLK I am very appreciative of their efforts. Thank you.

Looking at your comments on 10th June this year there are three photos of commanche G-ARIN on a trip to Corwall. I flew twice in this aircraft when it was based at Panshanger in 1961. both times it was flown by Colin Chapman of Lotus cars. I was a ATC cadet at the time and used to go to Panshanger frequently being my local aerodrome scrounge flying and helping out where possible. Happr memouries

G-ARIN joined the Three Counties Aero Club fleet around 1964, the sortie to RNAS Culdrose being the first time I had cloud wise been on top cruising at 7,000'. Really great to hear from you with a personal account from what in retrospect seem like great days. As you say, "Happy memories!"... PB

The header: I've been trying - and failing- to read the notice on the terminal building wall. MCA? - Ministry of Civil Aviation perhaps? What's beneath is beyond me, my visual acuity ain't what it used to be! I've had another go at this: MCA ( Ministry of Civil Aviation) Terminal Building Passengers Only Any comments/improvements welcome!

I've had another go at this: MCA ( Ministry of Civil Aviation) Terminal Building Passengers Only Any comments/improvements welcome! Very good question. Visual acuity seems not to improve with keeping? When the Airport closed in 1960, and the Terminal survived, all the Ministry signage remained in place. But, since the header in question was photographed the Terminal had undergone significant alterations to the detriment of the sign you are questioning dear Rocky14.... I recall only too well the very large signs on the apron facing side of the Terminal in those early days of the sixties. Like ghosts of another age they told their story. "Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation" clearly spoke out as to who had abandoned the south's major civil airport to the wolves.
