Header latterly today: amazing how the Airport has been sandwiched between old cars and sand - a sign of the times!

Header today brings back happy memories. In my day short final 26 with far fewer cars and a far scruffier airport. It is amazingly tidy today and I am certain very kind to props.

The Airport today is superbly maintained by a devoted team and happily the movements remain healthy despite what life has thrown at us all over the past months. The AOPA award of "Aerodrome of the Year 2019" was justly awarded considering the bureaucratic handicaps on offer. Sadly only two runway headings remain compared to a useful six in earlier years! There certainly were far fewer cars on the airfield as you say, the numbers involved in the car sales company's business now spread widely across Common Land apparently attract no attention from the fiercely 'anti airport - pro Common' brigade who are happy to spend vast sums of our money in legal efforts to thwart last year's "Aerodrome of the Year".

Excellent pictures today Peter - could have used those at the inquiry! Thanks Chris, quite agree. Amazing what you find when going through dusty files and folders in the roof and spare room... You have them now, just in case of a future need?? I'm not expecting too many more surprises, but if they surface no doubt they'll be given an airing on POTD!! Regards to Becky, yourself et al..

Love the Dc3s. Incidentally, there is a very good Dakota simulator at a place called Dead Man’s Corner near Carentan in Normandy. The engine start ups are particular good. Keep up the fight Pete. I too remember the AVM days with affection.

I too remember the AVM days with affection. Thank you 'mustangp51'.. Simulators are great fun, the source of much time being used up too, but the real thing will always be hard to beat! T'is so good to hear from one who not only remembers the AVM days but also reveres them with an affection known only to a now small number of souls.

Today's banner looks bizarre on my PC - only part of the aircraft is showing as the rest is obscured by the menu. The registration would be helpful. Thanks.
