Thank you Roadrunner...what a fantastic Christmas present!!
For years I've recalled in my memory driving past 'those big tails on the back of Blackbushe' with my Dad when I was very much younger. The south-east corner of Blackbushe "south"!! Made Blackbushe seem so big, as it was in those days.. The gate in the photos, seen as you complete the 90 degree bend coming up from Fleet on the Minley Road, marks one of those everlasting Blackbushe memories. A memory that shows the tails as being mainly white, Falcon & Britavia's Hermes fleet, and obviously the odd DC-4 added as your pics show. To me as a young lad in the passenger seat of my Dad's car those tails looked so huge and impressive, one of the enduring sights that hooked me to Blackbushe and all it stood for...
THANK YOU, to me priceless photos from days long gone...

PB, Great shots from the past indeed. I am, however, quite surprised to see the 'Independent' DC4s parked there. As I recall they were usually to be seen further west past the terminal building, on the south side of the A30 where they had a small maintenance setup. Roadrunners pictures certainly jogged the memory cells. Stuart.

Thanks, I thought they would be a nice surprise. They can be bought from Stilltime. You have to type Blackbushe for 2 of them and Hartley Wintney for the other 2, not sure why. There are a few more from the area, including Star Hill.

Interesting photos, never seen any photos from this vantage point before. Strange that neither DC-4 has titles, perhaps pre delivery/entering service? Great find anyway.

Merry Humbug. There was a guy on Pprune asking about photos of Comet 1s so I directed him to these pages explaining that Blackbushe was widely used for crew training.
