Here we are again with another day at Londons 2nd/3rd airport... Early movement was Westminsters Dak from Rome on this day 69 years ago. This is courtesy of its Pilot log book, Brian Powell. This was described as 'NAFFI charter'. It had departed on 25/2 routing Blackbushe-Marsielles-malta(night stop)-El Adem(Night stop)-Khatoum-(6h55 flying time!)Kisumu(night stop)-Niarobi. Return Was Kisumu-khartoum-Almaza (night stop)-Athens-Rome. Amazing how far these daks traveled, all because the airlines could not get better equipment so made do.

firstly no list tomorrow, next one on Sunday. Just some Egyptian Furys today, spotting was boring in the 50's! There were a dozen ex Royal navy Sea Furys delivered to Egypt in 1950 and all were delivered through Blackbushe by Airwork. They survived in service until around 1958.

Ok time for a double helping of Blackbushe of the past... A few RAF transport visitors for the purpose of throwing troops out of the back, thankfully with a parachute! A Hermes all the way from Singapore with troops and families, must have been a endurance test for all on board. Of course no day would have been complete without a RAF Anson, or two visiting..

82854 Grumman XJR2F-1 Pelican is interesting as it was one of the Albatross prototypes but I can not find anything more on its history. A couple of Farnborough visitors, which weer common. The RAE used Blackbushe on a frequent basis, either clearing customs or on various tests, all courtesy of the RAE movements log.

Looking very spring like outside. Back in 1949 the Grumman mallard was making its delivery flight to Shell at Amsterdam from Bethpage. On arrival in Amsterdam it was registered G-ALLJ. This was solely for its onward ferry to jakarta where it one again became PK-AKE! This was due to some countries that it was passing through not recognizing the state of Indonesia. It survived in Shell Indonesia service until burnt out during maintenance 27/1/51.

here we are again with a blast from the past. VP-KKJ was the former SE-BUB which had arrived at Blackbushe in September 1952 and was sold to East African Airways in October as VP-KKJ and was operated for a year or so. After that, it returned on this day in 1953. It was stored until it returned to the USA in October 53 and became N1508V in 1954 and disappeared from the face of the earth seemingly???

The Vanguard visit on this day in 1960 was one of only seven recorded visits of the type, there were probably more. The Vanguard appeared late in the airports life and mostly appeared on training flights. Had the airport survived long no doubt the type would have featured more heavily? We would have probably seen some of the TCA vanguards too?

A good deal of US navy activity on this day in the past. However the most interesting would be the DH108, and Storch visiting for an unknown reason. This comes from the RAE movements log book and Blackbushe was used on occasion as I guess it was quieter than the RAE for some work?

it was good to see catalina vpkkj in yesterdays movements of aircraft in 1953, it was parked between the a30 road and the silver city hanger for months while I was working there, but I never saw it arrive and never saw it depart ,I think it was painted white all over

I thought a man of your youth B170 would not be old enough to remember the glory days of the bushe? Apologies for lack of reports, went horse racing yesterday and turned out to be a full day out. A photo of VP-KKJ as a bonus, I remember being told by a ex Eagle engineer that it leaked fuel like a sieve after standing idle for a few months!
