Interestingly BCA have been granted planning permission to embark on a 24 month programme to develop another 36 acres of "airport" land. ie the old Sunday Market area. New buildings and covered links between hangars.
Hart District Council consider the plan "acceptable in principle" and that it will not harm the "character and appearance" of the countryside.
It is be hoped, therefore, that this change of 'heart' will be reflected in future planning needs of the Airport operation. Historically the Airport could not even be allowed to build a shelter for the rescue vehicles as it would have been in conflict with the visual amenities of the area. Times have changed and those who opposed anything to do with flying at Blackbushe have no doubt moved on to other things, but it will be interesting to monitor subsequent planning requests from the Airport's new owner. No doubt they will be coming...One cannot help recall the way Hampshire CC allowed their end of the Terminal to rot if examples of things that offend the area's visual amenities are needed.
What's good for the goose.....

Not really, the acres in question have already been removed from the Airport's inventory...but nonetheless, it's sad to see the Sunday Market part of the "airport" land taken away not to mention our beautiful hangars that are now stuffed full of cars.

Re-development of this area will form a 'shield' between the gravel diggers and the airfield which should prove beneficial. I would think Blink might want a hangar of some sort for their aircraft, even if it's just for maintenance rather than storage out of the elements.

Yupp, Chevvron, you may just be right on both counts.... An airport sans hangars is far from ideal!
