Early on the morning of April 21st, 2023, the Blackbushe Heritage Trust's team fly from Heathrow to Vienna armed with all the necessary equipment and resolve to commence the task of preparing our Viking, "Vagabond" for her road journey to Blackbushe and her new home. From there the task of restoration will begin, it won't be easy, but it will be rewarding and ultimately satisfying. Meanwhile, at Blackbushe work has sped ahead with the construction of a new hangar to house the aircraft during restoration and eventually being placed on display. Huge thanks must got to all who have sponsored the Trust's endeavours to bring home and save this example of British aeronautical engineering for the sake of our heritage and others over the years to come.. Particular thanks go to British Airways and their help with raising funds that will see the aircraft's return to her homeland, and to Blackbushe Airport for their immense help in so many ways, not to mention the provision of a hangar!! Volunteers will be appreciated if they can help with the painting required on the two containers that form the side of the new hangar, and volunteers will be needed for all kinds of help in preparing the Viking for display. State of play today, 20th April, the new hangar just requires her final coat of paint on the containers and it will be ready for the Viking. Sixty three years since a Viking was last seen looking out of a hangar at Blackbushe. It really is quite hard to believe!!
