Dunkeswell was the only USN station in the UK during WW2. Liberators thereat were used on anti submarine duties.

Many years ago I cycled to the site from Merryfield in bad weather - not at all pleasant - when I resided on the Blackdown Hills. It is but a short distance, albeit steeply uphill, from Merryfield to the crash site. The report indicates the importance of following instrument take off procedures.
