That will be the last update for a month, or so, as I am building a new pc, and will be working away for a little while so will lack the time and information. Rob

good morning, todays blast from the past. Of course the highlight would have been the P-38 on this day in 1955. I have seen photos of it in the magazines of the day but none 'in the flesh'. It was a survey machine and was en route back to the US from oil prospecting in Libya. The P1052 from the RAE is also interesting as it was the swept wing Sea Hawk that never made it into production. 06/07/1950 EE530 Gloster Meteor T7 RAE Farnborough from Farnborough 15:20 06/07/1950 VX272 Hawker P1052 RAE Farnborough local test flights local 15:25-16:20 06/07/1953 G-AHJP Bristol 170 12747 Silver City from Lympne 14:50 06/07/1955 N65485 Lockheed P-38/F5G 422-8091 World wide Surveys 06/07/1957 50753 Douglas R4D-6 14683 US Navy, commander of US Naval Forces Germany 06/07/1957 42-72524 Douglas SC-54 10629 USAF 67th ARS Prestwick 06/07/1957 G-AMBS Percival Proctor H.241 Airwork 06/07/1957 VW189 Vickers Valetta C1 345 RAF coded NUP 242OCU 06/07/1958 141313 Lockheed WV-2 2237 US Navy coded MG-1 ,VW-2 06/07/1958 145936 Lockheed WV-2 5517 US Navy VW-2 06/07/1958 146026 Grumman TF-1 56 US Navy USS Lake Champlain 06/07/1958 146028 Grumman TF-1 58 US Navy coded FB-028 06/07/1958 WJ908 Vickers Varsity T1 709 RAF coded R from Thorney island 06/07/1959 G-ALFT DH Dove 4234 MTCA 06/07/1959 G-APAW DH Tiger Moth 85263

Back in the dark, distant past these could be seen at Hampshire's finest airport. have never got to the bottom of the use of Blackbushe by the RAE, I guess it was just quieter than farnborough so of use. The Nord NC701 is of interest, these were built during the German occupation as the Siebel 204, later they were produced as the NC701 without change to the air frame. Basically the French equivalent of the Anson in terms of what they were used for. 07/07/1949 SX974 Avro Lincoln B2 RAE Farnborough test flight circuits from Farnborough 10:15 to Farnborough 10:30 07/07/1950 EE530 Gloster Meteor T7 RAE Farnborough local flights on auto pilot tests to Farnborough 16:20 07/07/1950 G-AIBB DH Rapide 6813 07/07/1950 G-AKHV Miles Gemini 6523 07/07/1952 G-AGRR Vickers Viking 109 air test became XB-QEX 18:40-19:30 07/07/1957 42-72590 Douglas SC-54 10695 USAF 07/07/1957 G-AMBS Percival Proctor H.241 Airwork 07/07/1957 G-ANEG Douglas DC-3 16696 Don Everall Aviation 07/07/1958 15 Nord NC701 15 French Air Force 07/07/1958 4607 Lockheed PV-2D 15-1531 Portuguese Air Force 07/07/1958 90389 Douglas R5D-3 18388 US Navy VR-24 to Paris and Naples 07/07/1958 146018 Grumman TF-1 48 US Navy CVA-111 USS intrepid 07/07/1958 G-AMJK DH Rapide 6657 Fairey Aviation 07/07/1958 G-APCL Piper PA-23 23-1159 Earl Of Derby 07/07/1958 VL249 Vickers Valetta C1 158 to Eagle for spares 07/07/1958 VP952 DH Devon C1 4048 RAF 07/07/1959 CA+031 Convair 440 472 Luftwaffe.
