The last day of another year is about to dawn, and with it comes the hope and wishes for what might follow in the coming twelve months - 2016.
Could I take the moment to wish all our members and all our guests a happy and successful 2016, and pass on my thanks to all who have supported the One-Stop forum since its inception a year ago. In particular, thanks must go to our prime correspondents who keep the movements pages primed as far as is possible with info and photos.
2015 was a significant year at Blackbushe Airport. Not always for the best of reasons with the loss of one aircraft and its occupants, but also the closure of the Blackbushe Sunday Market which took many - including the traders - by surprise, and the most significant change coming in the form of new ownership for Blackbushe Airport.
For many years it has been a wish that Blackbushe should be owned by an 'operator' or at least a business who specialised in aviation rather than car sales and Sunday marketing, for example. That wish was granted when ownership passed to a 'family consortium' long involved in airports and aviation. The initial months were confused as while ownership of the Airport had changed hands, the "business" of operating the place remained with BCA. BCA did not own the airfield acres any longer, but they still ruled the business decisions. Happily, that has now been resolved and Blackbushe Airport is now an entity unto itself. Under the consortium ownership come three tenants... Blackbushe Airport Ltd., Blink Air Taxi and Blink Engineering. There remains much to resolve as to the future and no crystal ball gazing will happen here, but the airfield is in safe keeping, and for now that is all we can ask...
Looking deeper into 2016, from my part we will have the Air Day in July. A lot of work awaits now that the New Year is upon us, but the event is taking shape with some interesting flying machines lined up. Current circumstances rule out display flying at this moment in time. Events at Shoreham last summer have not helped at all. Updates will be posted on the forum as we start to shape the event in more detail. Our first planning meeting of the year is next week, and I can guarantee there will be a call for volunteer helpers before too long....
For now, a further wish to all who frequent our forum for a truly Happy New Year, and many of 'em!!
See you on "the other side"!!
