After a pretty shaky few hours away from Blackbushe sincere and HUGE thanks to all who have slaved setting up the airfield etc etc etc..
Great to "feel the love" when I returned to Blackbushe direct from my night of a thousand needles. You're a great team, and the wecome back I found extremely moving.. Thank you one and all..
Not forgetting Rob who HAS found the weather control facility. Looks like he's about to do a great piece of work with the met.. No doubt, we are looked after from some greater power. Rob, of course...
Cheers and thank you guys n gals PB x

Rob, you little devil, you did it!!!
The BBC are not famous for optimism, best to watch forecasts elsewhere.. They failed to take up my suggestion of doing the Friday evening TV forecast from Blackbushe. They could confidently have forecast a Hurricane for the following day....
See you bright and early on the aerodrome!

All the very best for a successful event tomorrow. You have all put in a lot of work and deserve it to be a resounding success.
I just hope that the Blackbushe management appreciate it...

Hi Pierre,
Just wanted to congratulate you mate on a truly superb day today.
It was so nice to meet and greet so many visitors, Malcolm and I must have sold 1200 tickets during the day, we waited for many of them to returning to the car park and everyone was glowing with positive comments about the day... So hats off to you Pete, you pulled it off mate.
Cracking day mate, I didn't hear one negative comment. Constructive comments were; a few more food outlets and maybe another bus to cope in the busy periods... Otherwise, the visitors had a great time...
Thanks Pete... Now down tools, and have a much deserved breather...
Cheers mate.

Goodness Bill, you old flatterer..I was being selfish in doing something I really wanted to do, one of those things being simply to bring Blackbushe back to life for a day.
Just turned 22.30, I think we can say, "mission accomplished".....
Thank you to all our forum members who participated so valiantly. You know who you are... It was you who did so much to make it happen, and to Bill and the boys in the car park - you were absolutely incredible. I feel sleep calling soon, it's been a long day that went by in a flash, but tonight for the first time in weeks the Air Day preoccupation has gone, and I'm going to miss it....
Only one thing to do, start planning "The Blackbushe 75th Birthday Bash" when hopefully we can again turn in and say, "Mission accomplished"..?
Really happy the enjoyment was widespread - that I was able to attend after last week's rather scarey and nasty turn, and everybody went home happy!
PB
G'nite....

Well done indeed Peter to you, Laura and everyone else who helped make this a truly tremendous day out. I spent 4.5 hours in the "wilderness" directing traffic along the long back road that skirts the BCA compounds, maybe 1 in 5 cars stopped just to ask, " are we going the right way?" and everyone looked very happy. A few even stopped on their way out to say, " what a cracking day out". It all seemed to run like clockwork, the shuttle buses were just the job and the static park full of visitors relaxing and having a good time. After my traffic stint I did have a good wander so will post some shots later on. Top marks!!

Well done indeed Peter and your organisers for a great friendly event. Trevor Jones told me of your Hospital " visit" and I hope you are feeling a lot better. I was on " East Gate" behind the Terminal and all visitors loved the day. Comments were the same as Bill Samuel's posted earlier- Food Outlets and buses.A majority of the people walked both ways to the car park. I'm still on thinking of my flight in the glorious Rapide....... Are you going to have a de-brief meeting evening ? Best Regards Neil

Hello Neil..
Many thanks for the post event thoughts. Agree that there were some areas of the operation that could have been improved. I guess we have to consider what we faced as organisers of an event that was a step into the unknown, and to reach perfection on the way to the unknown was going to be a big ask.
To run a public 'open day' air event with no flying display might sound like ordering a burger but with no meat? None too tasty...I desperately wanted to get Blackbushe back on 'the aviation scene' whatever that may be, and thus we played with an "air day" that included a fly-in but also things to entertain. Like a static park with as many interesting aeroplanes as possible, exhibition, trade stands, and good quality catering and an atmosphere something akin to a garden party or fete... I truly believe we achieved most of those objectives. Blackbushe provides its own peculiar problems with space, and power supplies. We had no idea how many people would attend. The entry price was low - burger n chips price, or less - catering by The Flying Duck was of a high order but how many do you cater for when heading into the unknown? We needed an extra bus, but these things and the team dug deep into pockets to provide marquee, toilets, buses, medical cover, fencing, etc etc. Quite a gamble really and one that did take up time usually allocated to sleeping. You should see my phone bill!!
I'm sure there will be a post event gathering. Unfortunately last evening did not provide time or opportunity to thank everyone at the end of a brilliant day's work.
Very quiet on the airfield this morning, what a contrast. I continued my body building regime by gathering up fencing with the wonderful Airport Ground Crew before lunch and very soon it will appear as if nothing happened at Blackbushe this weekend. However, we know different and I hope the memories will linger long and firm in our memories...
Again, massive thanks to you and all from the Forum who stepped forward in the hour of need!! Some of our members found it impossible to attend, I just hope the photos being placed on the Forum will help a little.
Regards Peter B
