Yeah, seem to have overcome most of the major hurdles re infrastructure. Now entering the very busy phase to grab a few more aeroplanes. I'm kinda set on getting a C-130 for the day but we lack the necessary RAF crash cat at BB. Another challenge... I am wide open to suggestions contacts anywhere, any place. If the Air Day is anything of a success this year we will be on the ladder to bigger and better in the future.

Hi PB, wondering if some Crash Cat could be "borrowed" from the nearby Mil fields? Odiham and Benson spring to mind as places where one suspects their own resources are not used much at weekends? It may only need to be in place whilst said "Albert" is arriving and departing?

A herk would be lovely but in recent years even the big shows have struggled to get ant RAF transport aircraft because they are overstretched. Have you tried Odiham for a Chinook as they sometimes support local events, even the odd village fete? Local air ambulance is another possibility along with a fund raising stall I suspect? It could be such a great event but the restricted car parking is the biggest frustration.

I think "overstretch" has probably reduced a bit since we have withdrawn forces from certain theatres, but take your point.
I guess we don't know if we don't ask, and I suspect PB already has.

RJ and Ex.. Thanks guys for the valued input; RAF Odiham has my name every where except the guard house at the moment. The Chinook is not available, and I could take hours relating the MoD jargon to that effect. Tried numerous approaches... Not for the want of trying as in previous years Odiham have produced the goods, they even took out a Blackbushe sea gull during the 50th Anniversary bash. Front rotors + sea gull = bad news for the sea gull.
I'm looking at Odiham as a poss source of help re the C-130, and am currently in 'talks' with Brize... It does not look massively hopeful, but a I've been given the green light re the Herky Bird from EGLK all I can do is all I can do to try and grab one....IF anybody can do better or has better "in" with the RAF please speak NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Air Ambulance I covered months ago, and will drop in if operations permit. Hampshire & IoW Air Ambulance will be fund raising at BB on 30 July, whatever happens I hope they find it worthwhile...
The aeroplane collection as of today is growing, but from my point of view I'll continue recruiting until the 11th hour. Thanks indeed Rob for your input, it can be a lonely job looking at the calendar and seeing the event date draw closer. Done it a few times and that feeling doe not get any better...The Air Day is a new venture, success this year will bring fruit for bigger and better in the future.
Please don't mention car parking problems. The bridge has been crossed and we can park as many as we wish, there is NO frustration now. It has, however, been the cause of delaying everything somewhat..
A novel aspect of the day will be the aircraft pulling contest organised by NATS.....We might be able to recruit additional teams from local businesses once we have an update from NATS as to how things are going. The guys are abroad at the mo assisting another nation with aeroplane control...
The door here is open for further suggestions, aircraft contacts...anything! The Air Day will be whatever it turns out to be come July, and we intend/hope it to be an entertaining occasion for all involved.
Speak soon, Peter

You are doing a fantastic job Peter, all we really need is some good weather! A Herk would probably be the biggest think to arrive since 1960 and would be interesting to see on the apron. It may cause a traffic jam on the A30 though! Perhaps we could have a forum aircraft pulling team, although I will pass if it means pulling the Herk! Rob

How about creating an official Twitter page for the event ? social media is the way forward for these sort of things.
Also if you could get a few of the items to maybe come in the night before or stay over on the Saturday night you could perhaps organise a nightshoot. Just an idea but these prove to be very popular.
