My first ever flight at the age of four/five was to Nice on a Viking and so I look forward to hearing more about this project.

I reckon a Viking is the best bet! Neither too big nor too small it symbolises the essence of 'Ye olde EGLK'. Obviously it will need to be suitably situated to avoid 'hold-ups' on the A30. Good luck with the venture PB, I look forward to a happy landing.

The RAF Museum may provide some leads.

Thank you very much, your reply identifies the value of modern communications. Will check out and advise the "Viking Project" team.. Hopefully not too much time needed in the scrap markets, but could be very valuable!! PB

V170 Re Eric stating his preference and not liking the Red Roof on the Vikings, I agree and would like to suggest to model it as on G-AMGG as in November1956 on the first Hungarian Refugee Flight to Vienna. That would then remind us of Eagle's Vikings and the Refugee Flights from Blackbushe. Bob Carter.

My first ever flight at the age of four/five was to Nice on a Viking and so I look forward to hearing more about this project. My first flight in a Varsity was from RAF Oakington to RAF Acklington and return 13 August 1965. The fomer airfield is now a housing development, the latter a prison. I remember the flight as if it were 'yesterday', unlike yesterday , unfortunately! By coincidence, 1965 was the year The Beatles released Yesterday.
