BLACKBUSHE AIRPORT CAFE
The end of one era, the start of another. Reported by Blackbushe Airport this morning..
"On 31st December the Bushe Café will be closing. During January 2021 we will be giving the building a long overdue refurbishment inside and out. In February 2021 we will be opening a new look café under the aerodrome management.
We would like to thank Ewa and her team for the service and atmosphere they have provided for Blackbushe pilots and aviation enthusiasts.
During the refurbishment the toilets may be unavailable (as they will be refurbished too). We look forward to welcoming you all again in February to a new and modern environment with fantastic food.
We have already recruited a café manager to oversee the development of the menu and refurb, and we will be advertising for café staff in December and January. Keep an eye on our website and please do recommend any friends or family who may be suitable".
CUSTOMS & EXCISE IMPACT POST-BREXIT
"We have been advised by HMRC that airports that operate with a Border Force Certificate of Agreement (which we do), will be unable to accept flights carrying cargo to/from the EU from 1st January 2021. Such flights will need to use a Customs & Excise airport to import / export their cargo officially.
On the conference call, several aerodromes raised the situation where a club aircraft developed a technical issue abroad, and asked if they were permitted to fly spare parts out to it, to enable it to be flown home. The answer from HMRC was that these would need to go through a Customs & Excise airport for export, and then import in the EU country. It was apparent that HMRC had not contemplated this situation, and so they may come up with a solution to it.
However, we want to make all our pilots aware of the law regarding the carriage of cargo. It is our understanding that the GAR process will continue to work for travel of people, but Border Force may turn up to screen more flights, and in particular to check whether aircraft are carrying cargo illegally".
