Afternoon all,
I thought I might try my hand at a monthly update for you all. As you know we can't usually give advance notice of things coming and going, but I think there is a well-established grapevine through which information flows. Certainly if yesterday's arrival is anything to go by.
Performance
October was again a good month for us, we hit a few milestones.
Firstly, on 20th October we recorded our 30,000 movement of the year. By no means an outstanding number, but there was a time not so long ago we struggled to hit that in a whole year. On 29th October we passed last years total of 30,962, finishing October with over 3,000 movements and at 31,341. I'm hoping with a bit of good weather we can press on to 35,000 movements by the end of the year, a level not seen since 2010.
Next, on 23rd October we hit 500,000 litres of fuel sold. Last year we came so close, selling 499,993 in the whole year, so it was really pleasing to see us smash through the half a million mark with two months to spare. Our fuel contract continues to enable competitive pricing and we continue to remain one of the cheapest in the south. We also sold more JET than AVGAS, something that we've not seen since October 2017, its been really encouraging to see all the executive business supporting us and taking some fuel.
I know the spider diagram is a hit, so here is our one from October:
Notable Aircraft
I keep a tally of new aircraft. By "new" I mean we haven't seen them since before 2015. We had 18 in October including the two new based aircraft G-LKAM SLG2 and G-ILHR SR22. From visitors, we had everything from a Jabiru microlight up to the Falcon 7X. As you'll have seen we had some WIP on the apron this week. This was replacing some unrated or cracked drain covers which we identified as part of our risk assessments for the 7X. These should be finished today so you should be able to get much better pictures next time it comes in. We are used to the Falcon 2000 and Falcon 50. It's entirely possible that we might have all 3 on the apron one day - what a sight that would be! Visitors are up 19% overall.
Common Land Deregistration
We wait to hear from the High Court regarding Hampshire County Council's request for a Judicial Review of the inspector's decision to allow the de-registration of the airport as common land. We hope to hear in the next couple of weeks. If permission for a Judicial Review is granted, it's likely to be spring. We have a general election coming up. I urge those of you who wish to see us thrive to ask the candidates for North East Hampshire what their views are on the airport, and cast your vote appropriately!
Until next time...
