Hi Peter, with regards to this morning's POTD,it never ceases to amaze me that people buy a house close to an airfield/airport and then moan about the noise,I could comment further but I want to keep this forum decent. It's not just airfields which suffer from this sort of person. Several years ago in about 2006, someone living in the vicinity of Fulham Football Club at Craven Cottage started a petition to get the stadium closed down. Apparently they'd bought a house for £1.25M near the stadium in June or July (when there weren't too many games being played) and failed to notice the stadium and its rather prominent floodlight towers, so when the football season started in August, they got annoyed with all the parking restrictions and hordes of spectators going to and from matches. The football stadium has only been there since 1879.

BOB CARTER Admirable use of your time Bob!! The Viking remains notable by its absence as does the Ambassador. A Hermes wouldn't go amiss either? Your York and others being cared for remain in good shape but the management have designs on their hangar space.. Know what I mean?? Keep up the good work Bob, glad you're well.... Peter

Re. today's heading photo.A lovely little quotation from Air Britain Impressments Log published 1962. "With the outbreak of war Miss Constance R. Leathart owner of G-ABUU donated her Swift to No.131 Tyneside Sqn., Air Defence Cadet Corp, at Woolsington aerodrome. When the squadron was absorbed by the ATC in 1941 the Swift was stored at Hooton and remained there until it was discovered in 1950.

Not sure if 131 Sqdn ADCC existed then; all ADCC squadrons which became ATC were awarded the suffix 'F' for 'founder' squadrons, the closest one to Blackbushe being 11F Woking Sqdn.

43 (F) is now based at Commonside West, Mitcham - near The Windmill pub. Small world!
