The final news regarding DC-6 G-APSA and her future is this...
She has been sold to another party. At least we tried to save her from destruction by blow torch, and for that I feel suitably pleased. She will NOT be broken up!! Blackbushe Airport were happy to host her being an historic artifact, but sadly their hospitality will no longer be required. The good news is that the successful purchaser intends to return her to flight in due course..
Thanks to all who offered their support and encouragement; those members who, for whatever reason, could not see the point of saving the aircraft will be relieved that no more time will be expended on the project.
At least I won't have to sell the house now!
Discussion ends.

Gutted, absolutely gutted, i'd have absolutely loved to have seen her returned to Blackbushe.
As for all the handwork and effort you put into your endeavours for Blackbushe it's amazing that you keep going & going, don't ever let the doubters win as that what makes you a legend in my eyes Peter...

It is a real shame the aircraft won’t end up at Blackbushe. But I think most importantly, is that the aircraft lives on. If all goes well, it will be great to see it back in the air.
On behalf of all the true enthusiasts who would be gutted to see such an aircraft scrapped, many thanks for your efforts Peter!

Peter you're efforts to save an old friend were admirable to say the least. Just so glad that one day we may just hear her take to the air again Nigel

Thanks guys, it was the least we could do; let's hope she does eventually reach for the sky again. It will be a massive job, but it seems that the main spar corrosion we were told of was in fact a myth. A myth that seriously affected our plans for the best way ahead. I'm glad we tried...

It was certainly worth a try and you never know maybe the new owner could be persuaded to bring her back for a visit once she is back in the air?

April, 2018..
Latest news on G-APSA is that she will be moving to her new home in Wales, maybe to fly again, but uncertain. Importantly, she will be living out her days in the colours of Eagle Airways, a vestige of old Blackbushe will live on...
