I've changed the access to "everyone" for this thread. Although hard to believe, I understand some of our members don't sign in when visiting the One-Stop Forum swelling the numbers of visitors in the process. Obviously, I hope everyone will put the following date in their diaries!
Having jumped through many hoops, suffered cancellation of last year's Battle of Britain Fly-in, and soldiered onward I am delighted to let you know that we will have an event this year. More details will be placed here in due course, but note 30th July, 2016 as a day you might want to keep free...
I'll be feeling collars for volunteers in due course so if you want to get involved just reply to this thread. Blackbushe presents its own problems when trying to run an event that involves people and aeroplanes, but we have come up with a solution.
Just keep the day free if you can, we have numerous interesting aeroplanes lined up, with one, two and four engines... There will be NO flying display due to the current climate, there will be a "Fly-in", and flypasts are deemed as very acceptable. Who knows??? The National Air Traffic Service will be heavily involved, and I truly hope we can create a day to remember..for all the right reasons. If not, my neck will have much to worry about.
Cannot say more, but the event is designed as an 'open day' for Blackbushe and its flying schools and to remind the world that Blackbushe is still here - as an airfield. There is one heck of a lot to do still, and numerous bridges have to be crossed. Your help will be called for and very much appreciated.
Thanks
PB

I now have a date clash as its the Mrs Birthday (a big one!) the following weekend. I though I had got away with anything else by going to Madrid but she now says she wants a party on the 30th! So I may only be available until early afternoon?

As I have previously mentioned, I'm going to be away on family hols at the end of July :-(
Bearing that in mind, I probably shouldn't say this, but I'm gutted I'm going to miss this.
Greatly admire your determination to "get something on" and what you've managed to achieve already.
I am for sure left wondering what 4-engined beast will be gracing the Blackbushe tarmac?!!

That's excellent news, Peter, thanks for all your hard work in making it happen.
It's now firmly in the diary, and assuming no clashes with family hols (still TBD, but a couple of other things that they'll have to be fitted around) I'm definitely up for lending a hand.
As per exeglkflyer's comment; "4 engines" sounds most exciting...

Thanks for the weather forecast Aviologist. Thank heavens!!!
Rob. I dare not comment or Mrs Rob might be after my tail...but do what you can without risking your future happiness. My BIG birthday is a very few days away, three score years and yes that's right... I'm quite pleased to have made it this far. The alternate choices do not appeal.. We must consult before too long once the 30th scheme pans out a little further.
exeglkflyer. I remember you previous email on the subject of a July holiday. Sorry I have not changed the date but some things are locked in now..such as four engined flying machine. Sorry "Ex" and SimonD, you'll have to wonder for some while yet as to what it is..but it's going to be quite a rare bird with a long flight to get here. Very long.
Display flying is out thanks to various events that are making regular news fodder. Nevertheless, the Merlin will be back in our circuit to play some tunes... not saying anymore.
I've been determined to see a flying occasion at Blackbushe again, I just hope that the day provides some pleasure for those who can be here and that the end product justifies the motivation that seems to come from somewhere in the last remaining grey cell.. or something like that!
