Couldn't agree more about the commercial side of Christmas..crazy time, but thank goodness for online shopping and avoiding the High St mayhem!! Definitely time for friends and family. Just trust the statins take care of any over indulgences??
Poor Jeff..Working in the airline business is (was) rewarding and a lot of fun most of the time. But rosters at Christmas could really punch a hole in the festivities....Well recall one Christmas involved flying LAX-JFK in a lovely bendy Boeing (707)followed by the last jump JFK-LHR aboard a VC10 positioning flight full of crew who were also going home. What a flight, after 25 days on a 'round the world' trip. I even married one of the gorgeous members of my crew!! Some time after the trip ie.. Got home at 23.30 Christmas night... Despite all the fun, still no place like home!
Happy holidays...and thanks to all who have added to the Christmas thread..so far.

Christmas is way over-commercialised, no doubt, but I do enjoy the spending of time with family and friends that it allows. ....and the odd night out (too many in the last week, in fact) ....and 10 days off work! So it's a Happy Christmas and healthy, prosperous New Year to everyone on here from me :-) The only thing to look forward to is 'Downton' on Christmas day, but having said that, I think 'Mr Selfridge' is back for its final series on 3 Jan. I'm only working 22nd and 30th.

Can't log in since the Windows update a couple of days ago but a very Merry Christmas to all on Peter's wonderful forum. I love this time of the year, childhood Christmasses were always, happy, fun filled times and that has never really worn off. Five years ago I lost both my Dad and a dear friend within two days in the run up to Christmas so for me, it's a time to remember those who can no longer share the festivities. Health, wealth and happiness to all.

Must say I remember humbugs as the large minty sweet which I enjoyed sucking during my early spotting years and also my many happy hours in the Blackbushe Bar at Christmas having a really good fun time .... or have I got the " Bah/Bar Humbug " meaning all wrong?! Eat, Drink and be Merry I say and spare a few special, peaceful moments remembering those who are no longer able to be with us. Lets celebrate and also recall the religious meaning too! Have a Very Happy Christmas one and all. Stuart

Thank you so much Graham.. I can really feel for you. My wonderful Father died on Christmas night, 1979. It's a time of year when happiness and sorrow meet head to head for many of us...The irony was that my wife discovered that we were "expecting" for the first time as my Dad was in Intensive Care. In hopes that he might hear we told him our Christmas news, but we will never know if he could hear the happy proclamation - or not. Christmas remains a truly happy time for my small family, although I cannot deny that a glint of a tear may appear for my Dad during the proceedings....
As you say Graham, "Health, wealth and happiness" to all..particularly the two beginning with "H"....

Thanks so much Peter, I lost my Dad on Christmas Eve and the dear friend on Boxing night 2010 so Christmas is rather bitter/sweet. But I have the friendship and love of my wife, four grown up children between us and four cracking grandkids ( oh yes, and the lunatic spaniels)...;0) It'll be a madhouse here but that's how we like it!

Wishing all on the forum a Merry Christmas and I'd like to thank the contributors for keeping up the momentum with great photos, news and reminiscences. When I lived down that way, the Boxing Day walk often started out at the Blackbushe car park, and then across the common, with the faint hope that something of interest might have parked up over the holiday. Often disappointed, but that's one of the joys of the place - exotic machines can appear when you least expect them.
