POTD 4/12/23.
Your local MP is well suited to lead questions to assist the plebs in response, PB. He was Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs of the United Kingdom under Liz.

Re the Clipper Tradewind N709PA crash mentioned in POTD today, I wondered what fuel it was using and it was indeed Jet B ( wide cut gasoline) rather than Jet A ( kerosene) although the accident investigations don't seem to have put the blame on the type of fuel.

Great question, thank you.. The answer would be most interesting.

Wikipedia on Jet fuel....https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jet_fuel..... The Wikipedia on the crash of Clipper Tradewind N709PA originally had it confused with N712PA which in 1959 possibly went supersonic in an uncommanded dive over the Atlantic and some weeks later had its No4 engine detach in another dive over France,( survived and repaired at Heathrow)

POTD 9/12/23
Uniforms: very important at one time, professional and corperate. I wonder if it still rings true. As an example: I was on business trip booking in at a 'decent' hotel, in the now insolvent second city of England; whereupon, a full crew of a US flght filled the vacuum wengendering much good humour. they were bedecked in uniforms of haute couture (in the professional sense). In a nutshell they were impressive, not necessarily good, but impressive. What am I getting at? More needs to be done to promote the image of budget airlines, the very ones that most of the great British public love and hate.

... and (adding to Peter's POTD list of historic December dates) 120 years ago ...
Quite a few big, important events transpired on December 17th throughout the ages, from ancient Roman festivals to the premiere of one of the most beloved cartoons of all time. Here are ten important historical events that took place over the last 3,000 years:
1903 – First Powered Flight: Perhaps the most famous event on this date is the Wright brothers' first powered flight in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Orville and Wilbur Wright made the first controlled, powered, and sustained heavier-than-air human flight, marking the birth of the modern age of aviation.

Indeed, and also on this date in 1935 an aeroplane known as the Dakota made its first flight..

Thanks for the list Rob, a shame to see two Commander 112s on the scrap heap. BDFW has been at EGLK for decades.
Despite that 'interesting' contribution from moi, I note that I was passed over, once again, on the NYHL. Never mind, there was always a chance I'd turn it down - given the opportunity. Bah! Humbug, indeed. Incidentally, I read 'A Christmas Carol' again over Christmas. It is as good today as it was in 1843.
Happy New Year to you and All.
