Sad that 122.3 will soon be gone forever so far as Blackbushe is concerned. I well recall the feeling of 'pride' when long ago Blackbushe once again had an air traffic frequency attached to her - 0ne Two Two Decimal Three..... The Airport had regained her voice, albeit with a little less authority than previously.

I don't know where the photo above originated, Peter, but it is wrong. Blackbushe will not be changing to 8.33khz frequency, which is an HF frequency. Best wait until official info is published.

I don't know where the photo above originated, Peter, but it is wrong. Blackbushe will not be changing to 8.33khz frequency, which is an HF frequency. Best wait until official info is published. Referring to the new VHF Aeronautical Band channel spacing Bren, not the actual frequency. Was until recently 25 Khz spacing (eg Fairoaks 123.425) now they've split it in 3 for 8.33 Khz spacing. There is no guarantee that the 'new' frequency allocated will be similar to 122.3 though; Farnborough Tower frequency was 122.5 and mid december it changed to 122.780 whilst other Farnborough frequencies have simply 'moved' by 5 Khz eg ATIS was 128.4 and will become 128.405. It's causing considerable discussion on sites like Flyer Forums. All equipment, both in aircraft and on the ground has to be changed to radios which operate on the reduced bandwidth, even 'Ops' frequencies used by handling agents and airlines are changing and as an incentive, OFCOM/CAA charges to use a particular 8.33 frequency are a fraction of those for retaining your 'original 25 khz frequency. I understand however that those who have to change equipment can claim a partial refund of the cost which I believe is paid from EASA funds.

I've searched NOTAMs up to 1 Mar and there's still no indication of the 'new' Blackbushe frequency.

OK T. I know about the spacing but my point was that the text on the photo above is wrong. Sorry to be pedantic.

Or to use Don Hickson's favourite word, 'semantics'.

That's probably something to do with organ playing!

I'd rather not comment on that; it might sound rude!

The change is not effective until month's end, time hopefully for the necessary onboard avionics to be bolted in place on our aircraft. No doubt the 'LK 122.3 changes will be advised in a timely fashion... Meanwhile, we will continue this section with Airport notices as and when they are released. A track drift has been noted! PB
