With respect to our leader. Was not the air show where Neil Williams flew the Lanc 1967? after trawling your pics I found a colour one of her starting up where, if you use a microscope, you can see a figure, me, in white overalls by the red Land Rover and the trolleycac and the date is, I think, 02/09/67. I wanted to go to Bruningthorpe this year on the 50th anniversary but have not managed it yet.

Wish I could remember the name of the other ground control guy in white. He was definitely a mod with a scooter while I was into motorcycles, and still am!

Hello Mustangp51..
1967, you may well be right. On 9 Sept 67 I well recall the Masefield Mustang (in the photo Rocky 14 refers to) approaching head on while flying IFR ( I Follow Railways)between WAP and BB. Our Taylorcraft would have probably come off slightly worse!
The guy you refer to in whites is Maurice Gosling, an ardent weekend volunteer who arrived from Slough on his moped whatever the weather. Salt of the earth type, last saw him in Slough some years ago.
Appreciate the date correction, the main thrust of the recent POTD edition you refer to was to remember Neil Williams, and the fact that 40 years will soon have slipped by since his death..
Aeroplane magazine will be covering the fact in a forthcoming edition...

Thank you PB. By the way, yesterday I celebrated my 70th with a surprise present from my family of fourty minute flight in a Mustang over California in clear blue skies. Heaven!
