Have finally got some time to go through my photos from the airday. Most were taken while parking things up before it was all open.A cracking day and something we can all be proud of, roll on next year. first of all a shot of the hallowed concrete Among the based aircraft in the static was the gleaming Aerobility Yak-52 The highlight of Fridays arrivals was the NA Bronco that came up from Culdrose en-route back to Belgium Also arriving on Friday was the lovely Hornet Moth based at Lee-on-Solent Late arrival from Belgium was the new Sonca from Belgium Saturday dawned bright but with high cloud, at-least it was very much flyable. First arrivals on Saturday was this lovely Yak-52 from North Weald Then it was Peter Tiechmans immaculate P-40 G-KITT One of the highlights was BAESYSTEMS Avro Nineteen from Old Warden, a real taste of the old Blackbushe P2921 Hurricane G-CHTK joined us and was one of the other main highlights G-BDEY Piper Cub from Turweston has been modified for hand only flying by it's wheelchair using owner We were also joined by the Army Air Corps Historic Flight from Middle Wallop for pleasure flying. AAC Beavers, and Austers were a regular Blackbushe feature from 1958 to the 1980's Percival Provost XF690/G-MOOS based at Yeovilton, this aircraft did a couple of afternoon flights including with PB on board. G-YAKX Yak-52 arriving from Popham away from the static area we were joined by several visiting aircraft G-ATMC Cessna 150 of 1965 vintage was the highlight for me as I had not seen it before having spent 15 years based in Northern Ireland Finally the day ended with a flight in this old girl Rob

Rob, many thanks for the above - complete with Shona in the Rapide's 'office' - not quite as spacious as an A320, but much more fun with 'real' dials...
Working on bringing you the 2017 75th birthday and fully intent on squeezing everything I can out of the bottle come the celebrations. Cannot say more but maybe first half of September I will be able to spill the first beans? Some big bridges to cross, some I've already crossed, beyond that I don't want to build up the picture prematurely! Not until I know exactly what I can promise in the way of our big diamond do... just have to trust me!! Risky, I know...
Great pics Rob, thank you again.

Peter I'll trust you,but many wouldn't LOL! I think we really need to push out the boat for the 75th and make it a very special event. Would be good to have the occasional meeting over the winter to put ideas forward etc over a coffee.

Great idea Rob, especially as you're paying! Err, LOL....
Seriously, I'll make sure you are firmly kept in the info loop, but be assured there is a lot going on in the ideas, planning, and scope departments! The O&M will be very different to this year's operation, the product will be different but still in pursuit of the atmosphere we created on 30/7. The next couple of weeks are critical in various ways, I want to give us the best Blackbushe Birthday possible, but again you're gonna have to trust me - cannot say how far my neck has been stuck out this time, but I fully intend to keep the head attached to it at all times. Just as soon as we've crossed a couple more very big bridges I hope we can 'launch' the event. Until then, no more I can say..
Ideas and polite suggestions always welcome...
Speak soon! P

I think the water is free Peter LOL! Would be good to get some of the volunteers tougher every so often so we all get to know each other better and can bounce some ideas around.

The water may be free Rob, it's what you're diluting that counts.... LOL again!
Fully agree that we should harness the spirit of Air Day. Let's get the basics done first, as I say 'things' are happening toward the infrastructure for 2017 and until they are confirmed - or not - I cannot say a great deal more! I have all the volunteers details on file so should be quite easy to organise a gathering to outline our next event - once we have something concrete to outline!
What I might do is open a section on the forum for Blackbushe 2017 before too long. I'll include a "suggestions and ideas" box where all such inputs from our members could be studied.
More will follow... P

2017? There will be a forum news release coming out during this month with regard to 2017 and Blackbushe.
The wheels are turning faster by the day... If all the current plans/schemes/ideas/etc etc come to fruition it should be an event worth attending. HUGE amount going on, but when an airfield like Blackbushe reaches her Diamond Anniversary it warrants a HUGE amount of work to celebrate it properly...
There will be a new forum section for the 2017 75th just as soon as we have some more basics ironed out..
I promise you I'll be working my socks off to bring about the kind of event appropriate for the occasion.
